this track is centred around what i imagine snake communication in the outback sounds like - wild snakes, captive snakes, pet snakes, what have you - when the snakes are active and happy. i was going for that viper-like snake whistling sound that emits from their tongues. if you have ever watched the ninety-three year old David Attenborough, you can compare and tell the differences. although that was not the only plan sonically: also to create something extra from the "backward" patch in ableton live 8 suite.

i like getting obsessed with the synthesis and modules of the studio. it often helps if i'm in a good mood. inspiration can flow then, as well as hope. it can be difficult getting the same inspiration not knuckling down to a control surface - you only need one, at a time - and then the process can truly begin. many different control surfaces - or instruments - help, so you do not get bored. it also assists you varying up your tone. there is nothing that matches true natural zen, unachievable with drugs.

if you fancy, you are welcome to remix parts. the track can be elongated, truncated, de-essed, reverbed, delayed, extended and granularised. any mixing goes many different ways. sometimes you lose a trail of thought - which you pick back up with music. "how music saves you from the doldrums. how it's his lifeline, basically. i thought it was so obvious" said alfie, robert wyatt's wife in 2007. and that's correct for me too. often we feel sad when we are alone, which is why the grasp of the senses - hence the path to ennui that creates music - is our greatest asset.
